Biography:
Grotjahn's works are designed to flirt with the eye and plant ideas in the head. American painter Mark Grotjahn received his MFA from the University of California, Berkeley, and his BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Best know for his abstract and geometric paintings, Grotjahn has exhibited all over the world, with solo shows at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2005); the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (2006); and Kunstmuseum Thun, Switzerland (2007), to name a few. His works can also be seen in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Grotjahn currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
