Statement:
My signature series, In City Dreams, is inspired by my life in Boston and captured by the lyrics of the Robin Trower song: (In City Dreams) Down in the dirt and candy wrappers. There pretty ladies on parade with flashing eyes. They come on smiling. The night's ablaze. The city burns from red to amber. A sidewalk circus floating by. Crowd of bright eyed empty faces. They're playing a game. This game of magical illusion. That leaves you wondering. If you really have arrived. Or only dreaming.
Biography:
Born and raised in East Tennessee, Boston-based artist David Squibb has a degree in painting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he studied under Whitney Leland and Leonard Koscianski, Mr. Koscianski himself a student of Buckminster Fuller and Wayne Thiebaud. As an art student, David focused his talents in watercolor, combining the abstract concentration of Mr. Leland and the classical techniques of Mr. Koscianski. Now a digital artist, David's influences continue to surface, from the early guidance of professors Leland and Koscianski, to the Pop Art works of Rauschenberg and Warhol, to David's favorite painter, Jean-Michel Basquiat, to the thematic influences of musicians George Jones and Robin Trower.
